Studio Ashby is led by Sophie Ashby and has a team of creative thinkers whose focus is to create unique spaces. Ashby’s goal is to bring authenticity to each project, not only in the selection of furniture, lighting and art but also in the use of a natural palette of materials and textures.
The studio’s relationships with craftsmen and artisans, extensive resources, and constant searching play an essential role in the development of each project.
In this team, there’s a love of objetcs with a a narrative and a history, which results in coherent spaces, with a sense of honesty and personality.
‘I believe there is a poetry in the tension of combining art, antiques, craft, colour, pattern, and texture; the careful layering brings character and feeling to a home.’
The team’s mission is to create spaces with personality. Whether it’s a home, restaurant, hotel or commercial building, they apply the same creative approach that begins with imagining the lives of the people who will inhabit it.
Art plays a central role in Studio Ashby‘s inspiration and process. Drawing on Sophie’s own passion and training in art history, the team believes that art has an important place in any interior and no space is complete without it.
Sophie’s keen sense of architecture and design developed over the following years with sound advice and a personal curiosity for “beautiful things”.
Sophie Ashby, director of Studio Ashby expanded her design vocabulary with a BA in History of Art (Hons) at Leeds University and went on to study Interior Design at Parsons, The New School in Manhattan, New York.
