France’s greatest art museum, Louvre, has one of the most impressive selections of sculpture, jewelry, and fine art in the world, 48,000 piece collection is now available online. The site includes artworks from the museum’s eight departments that range from Renaissance sculptures to Egyptian antiquities.

In an effort to contain the pandemic, Louvre, as many other touristic points in Paris, has been closed since October, and usually, this art gallery attracts 10 million visitors a year! The museum will continue closed for long-planned renovations. Now the website is available in French, English, Spanish, and Chinese. Louvre is following the British Museum, the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, and New York’s Guggenheim and Metropolitan Museum of Art, all offering virtual tours during the Covid-19 pandemic.

An interactive map is also available on Louvre’s website, allowing visitors to explore the museum, room by room. Furthermore, the platform offers a view of the Delacroix museum, which is run by the Louvre, as well as sculptures from the neighbouring Tuileries gardens and works recovered from Germany since the end of the war in 1945. A magnificent art collection, that is now available worldwide!
