Summer nights are getting colder. Summer is fleeting. Fall is around the corner. Yellows, reds, browns… Warm colors invade the streets, bringing the warmth and comfort we so much need. Light blues and greens are replaced and the light summery decor just isn’t enough to keep us going through the cold and dark Autumn days. Thom Filicia, who has his own New York-based design firm, brings you some great design tips to prepare your home for the gloomy days.
Gaining fame on the Emmy-winning “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy”, Style Network, HGTV, and most recently Bravo’s Get A Room with Carson & Thom, Filicia is a best-selling author and a recognized top designer and international tastemaker. His interior design projects range from residential, hospitality and commercial both in the US and abroad. The designer’s expertise and experience make him a trendsetter and the perfect person to advise you on how to prepare your home for Autumn.
Thom believes that a layered design is the way to go when it comes to Fall decoration. This adds texture and warmth, still bringing function and style. Layered design can be achieved by adding a different rug or perhaps two, also by throwing some fur or hyde features for extra warmth, using different pattern pillows and covers will also help you get that complex look.

Bringing the outdoors in is another of his great interior design tips. We don’t spend as much time outside during Autumn, so to have few nature-like features is great to enhance your Fall decoration. Thom Filicia advises you to add seasonal greenery, branches and leaves, to transform your home into a true design inspiration.
