1 – California Chalet

Studio Shamshiri was commissioned to renovate and restore a 3,500 square-foot Southern Californian estate built by Myron Hunt in 1906. The design concept pays homage to the property’s history, taking notes from the client’s personalities with accents of soft pinks, greens and burgundies.

4 – La Jolla Residence

The La Jolla Residence is a full renovation and restoration of a house built in 1957 by architect John August Reed, and associate of Frank Lloyd Wright, R.M Schindler and Irving Gill. Studio Shamshiri developed a concept that retained the architectural details of the existing house while opening it up for a growing family.

5 – West Village Apartment

Studio Shamshiri was commissioned to renovate a 5,200-square-foot penthouse residence, formerly the old St. Vincent Hospital, located in the heart of West Village. Unassuming materials and a thoughtful approach to the design created a cosy environment for the family of five.

6 – Lechner House

An eight-year excavation, restoration and revitalization of a 1948 Rudolph Schindler house. Every window and surface of the original section of the house was brought back from its then unrecognizable state, and, with a fresh eye, new additions of the house were built, paying strict homage to the original spirit of the home. Purposeful, custom furniture and millwork were designed to fulfil various needs. Schindler’s designs sought to transform low art into high art through the poetic use of standard everyday materilas and the Lechner House stands as a lasting and remarkable example of this vision.

7 – Rustic Canyon Residence

The interior design of a midcentury modern house in Los Angeles’ Rustic Canyon. The home features striking original architectural details such as exposed Douglas Fir beams and ceiling, terra cotta floor tiles, and floor-to-ceiling glass facing the backyard and pool area.

8 – Hillside House

Architectural renovation and interior design of a 3,000-square-foot steel-framed, midcentury residence in Hollywood. Space features pastel tones and a sixties sensibility with furnishings by Alma Allen, BBDW, Carl Axel Acking, and Pierre Paulin, as well as custom pieces inspired by Finn Juhl and Jean Royère.

9 – Libbey House

The interior design of architects Myron Junt and Elmer Grey’s first Craftsman-style project, built in 1908. The goal was to create a comfortable, modern, family-oriented design that would resonate with the beauty of the surrounding area and pay homage to early California days. We worked with furniture that, while not necessarily from the era, was inspired by it: pieces handcrafted from materials that aged gracefully by designers such as George Nakashima, Alma Allen, Micheal Wilson and Adam Kutzman, among others.

10 – Buff & Hensman House

Architectural renovation and interior design, an expansive outdoor living area with a kitchen, bathroom structure, billard room and reconfigured pool were created to encourage indoor-outdoor living. The entire house can also be controlled remotely and is energy efficient. The interior is warm and cosy and includes a collection of favorite furnishings from South American design and European Modernism.
